Ministry Training

We cannot guarantee that students will be hired by Milestone Church if they graduate from Milestone College. What we can guarantee is that students will have an opportunity to be set up for success no matter what their next step is, and one of the ways we do that is through our on-the-job ministry tracks. 

Ministry Training – or, Practicum – at Milestone College is focused on providing environments for students to gain real life experience. Practicums are engineered to provide hands-on training that allows you to become specialized in a specific area of ministry, and constitutes the “live experience” portion of ministry training. The goal is for students to acculturate to Milestone Church, develop their giftings, and to acquire competence while being coached and mentored. Designated Practicum Coaches will focus on both spiritual growth and leadership development. This is all fueled by our passion for and commitment to the next generation. Since the early days of Milestone Church, this has been who we are.

The possible progression of Ministry Training year by year:

 Year 1:

Goal: Exposure to all Ministry Practicums and areas of church, further develop a heart for the house and our ministry philosophy

Practically: Serve weekends and/or Wednesday nights. Attend Ministry and Leadership classes

 Year 2:

Goal: Discovering and exploring general ministry skills and opportunities with an agreed upon Ministry Practicum

Practically: Gain valuable ministry experience and develop skills through hands-on ministry under ministry coach leadership

 Year 3:

Goal: Specific skill development with agreed upon Ministry Practicum

Practically: Take ownership within the ministry for further practical skill development, growth in leadership, while carrying substantial ministry weight

 Year 4:

Goal: Apprenticeship at a specific campus assigned by church leadership

Practically: Full ownership of assigned responsibilities within the ministry department

Essentially, our progression is designed so that ministry weight increases over the four years. Students are not strictly held to this time progression, but rather variance will occur with respect to evidence of maturity and ownership. Practicum may be adjusted for students who already have significant ministry experience at Milestone Church.
